About the Book

There is a growing consensus that climate change, also known as global warming, is becoming the greatest threat to our environment and by extension, to the mankind. It is basically caused by increasing levels of greenhouse gases which trap the Sun’s energy within the atmosphere, making a hell out of our earth!!

In today’s world of ultra-modern community living with the affordability of luxuries of life, it has become vital to be environmentally conscious in building our homes, living in them and maintaining them too.  Its time we needed a co-coordinated and meaningful program of self regulation and community awareness and build up public opinion through every available media thereby protect the nature’s precious and dwindling resources. This book is a small step in that direction and hopefully in the right one. The book will attempt to inform and involve the reader in environmental conservation, not with a sense of panic, but with a deep concern accompanied by commitment to action. The Book would try and demystify some of the more complex scientific notions and theories that would have baffled us over the years. The intention is to take the reader through the book, dwelling about each topic, explaining the science behind, and in the process drive home some seriousness of the matter. Aided by interesting examples, typical scenarios, lucid graphics, exhaustive glossary, useful calculations, practical tips, and a sourcing guide for every conceivable context, the book would eventually stimulate and encourage the reader into immediate remedial action.

About the Author

RK Gautham did B. Arch. and got training in Interior Design, Intelligent & Energy Efficient Architecture. In his long professional career spanning 18 plus years, Gautham has worked in various capacities with design consultancy, execution and project management firms and has pursued many diverse interests ranging from Design, Contracting, Management, Teaching and technical authoring. He has designed, executed and managed several major projects including Corporate Offices, Institutional interiors, Retail spaces, Residential buildings and Hospitality projects. He also has to his credit several articles published on Home Interiors in the columns of popular English daily Deccan Chronicle in its weekly magazine sections for over a year and authored a few technical manuals and training programs. He is currently working for a Multi-National Real Estate Money Management and Services Firm.
