About the Book

Engineering technology has become inter-disciplinary with chemical, physical and mathematical sciences contributing immensely to the development of engineering practices. Any industrial process is strongly coupled with various observations on the basic properties and principles of the materials that they use. From Chemistry point of view, an engineering student is supposed to have a basic knowledge of properties like corrosion, phase rule, reactivity with surroundings, pH and other compatibility procedures. Salient features • Every aspect of a topic is dealt with, keeping the focus on engineering science, and it has been written in a simple language with in-depth explanation. • VIva questions at the end will help the students in developing a logical outlook. • Describes quantitative analysis and estimations of the compounds of general interest to engineers. • At the end, useful appendices including preparation of reagents are provided. • As the accuracy of the results largely depends upon the accuracy of weights, volumetric glassware and solutions used, the first chapter introduces these features. • Includes with all relevant subject matter, equations and additional information. • Instrumentation techniques such as pH meters, potentiometer, conductometer, and colorimeter and flame photometer are widely used in the industry and experiments, covering these techniques have been introduced in this text This book serves as a text on the practical engineering chemistry for undergraduates and provides both the theoretical and experimental approach to the subject in such a simple manner that even an average student can perform the experimental work without much instruction.
