About the Book: Pharmacy
Practice is currently one of the fast-growing branches of pharmaceutical
sciences. The book is written with aim to provide basic information to students
of pharmacy profession about pharmacy practice. The book Concept of Pharmacy
Practice is a collection of fundamental concepts of community and hospital
pharmacist, aiming at the new challenges which are exciting as well as
daunting. The book is interdisciplinary in its approach and provides basis for
understanding the role of pharmacist in health care profession. The primary
target of this book is D. Pharm., B. pharm. and Pharm. D. students. The text is
divided in to 9 main chapters with index for ready reference. The figures and
tables summarize the text material for quick revision. A book provides balance
and adequate information about Role of Pharmacist in health care profession,
his authorities, responsibilities, and ethics in profession.
The chapters' communication skills
& community pharmacy dealt with various skills the pharmacist should possess.
Chapter number three & four namely dispensing pharmacy and hospital
pharmacy describes role of pharmacist during dispensing the prescription,
function and responsibilities in hospital pharmacy. The chapter five and six,
adverse drug reaction and drug interaction describes significance of ADR and DI
concept in pharmacotherapy, The chapter seven deals with patients counseling.
The chapter 'pharmacy shop' describes establishment, organization, legal
aspect, requirement and management aspect of pharmacy, while last chapter
enlighten codes of ethics, code of conduct for pharmacist in his professional
and social life. We hope this book will provide the basic concepts related to
the professional life of pharmacist in patients health care system. |
About the Authors: Dr. Rajesh Bhaskar
Nawale
is presently working as Associate Professor in Pharmacology at Government
College of Pharmacy, Ratnagiri (Maharashtra). Started his career as Lecturer at
Pravara Rural College of Pharmacy, Pravaranagar from February 1994. Having
passed his graduation and graduation from University of Pune. Completed his
Philosophy of Doctor at Govt. College of Pharmacy, Aurangabad (Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar Marathwada University). With teaching experience of more than 20
years, he has written more than 15 national and International research papers
and guided more than 20 M. pharm. students. He is approved research guide with
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. He has delivered more than 10
invited lectures at various state and national level seminars. Dr.
Prashant Keshaorao Puranik is presently working as Professor in Pharmaceutics at
Department of Pharmaceutical sciences, Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur
University, Nagpur (Maharashtra). He has completed his Pharmacy education up to
Ph.D. (1992) in Nagpur University. He has vast experience in production,
research development and administration. He worked as a Drugs Inspector with
FDA, Govt. of Maharashtra for about eight years. He entered in academic field
and worked as a Lecturer in Govt. College of Pharmacy, Amaravati and as a
Associate Professor in Government College of Pharmacy, Aurangabad and Karad. He
is approved research guide with Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and
SRTM University, Nanded. Under his guidance four students have been awarded
Ph.D. and 31 students have completed M. Pharm. He has 30 international and 19
national publications to his credit. He
has delivered more than 20 invited lectures at various state and national level
seminars and conferences. He is a hard core teacher teaching various subjects
of Pharmaceutics. He was specially involved in teaching Pharmacy Practice and
Community Pharmacy. He was senate member and presently academic council member
with the R.T.M. Nagpur University. He is R.R.C. member of various universities.
He was associated with syllabus framing of B. Pharma and M. Pharm course of
various universities.
Dr. Somashekhar S. Khadabadi is working as
Principal at Govt. College of Pharmacy Aurangabad (Maharashtra). Graduation
from K L E's Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Belgaum, Karnataka University,
Dharwad in 1983, Post graduation from Bangalore University, Bangalore in 1986,
Philosophy of Doctor from P. G. Department of Chemistry, Karnataka University,
Dharwad in 1990 and LLB (Spl) from Pune University in 2000. Published 2
reference books, 1 textbook, filled 4 patents and published more than 75 papers
in reputed National and International journals. He is members of many
pharmaceutical professional bodies like IPA, APTI, ISTE etc. He has guided more
than 60 M. Pharm. students and 12 Ph.D. students. He was BOS member of Amravati
University, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded and Dr.
Babasaheb Ambedkar Maratwada University, Aurangabad. He was senate member in
Principal category in Amravati University. During his professional career
spanning 25 years has made distinguished contribution to the advancement of
frontiers of knowledge in the areas of pharmacy education, skills in admission
process, introduction of new pharmacy programs and all this work is recognized
by Government of Maharashtra in 2008-2009 with award of “Best Teacher”. |
